"90 percent of success is showing up.”  This quote, attributed to Woody Allen, packs a lot of success savvy.

What does “showing up” mean to you and your employees?  As I searched for my own personal definition, I discovered and captured some interesting correlations for you to contemplate.  Here they are:

1.  Love your clients or customers: Nothing beats this. Love them, care about them, and empathize with them — all in addition to serving them superbly.  Care about their business, their goals for success…and their business challenges. Through your understanding, your presence, your positive ideas, you’ll discover WOW opportunities just waiting to happen!  This, in turn, impacts productivity and profitability. That's one way you make a difference — the difference your clients yearn for.

2.  Deliver extra value: Sweeten your services with unexpected extras. Go the extra mile every which way. Do more than is expected, do more than required; do more than anyone in their right mind would do!

3.  Dazzle decision-makers with surprising extras: Make yourself absolutely unforgettable. Here's how you do this:

  • Do your homework.
  • Pay attention to every possible detail.
  • Listen.
  • Listen more.
  • Take notes.
  • Follow up.  Become a “Follow-Up Fanatic”.

4.  Build long-term relationships: Let your first communication with your new client signal the start of an enduring connection. Beginning with the first moment of contact, enter into their world. And see their world through your eyes.

5.  Reinvent yourself continually: Leverage your assets and your skills. Keep pushing the envelope.  Whatever you do well today, do it better tomorrow. Practice never-ending improvement of your attitudes and actions.

6.  Develop a passion for caring by:

  • Doing more than enough.
  • Making a passionate commitment to your clients.
  • Searching for WOW opportunities to deliver services and solutions.

In summary, consider the following success-savvy actions right now.  Try them out … and be sure to “show up” every day for your clients or customers.  Then, watch your business and your employees soar to new heights of success!

  1. Love your clients or customers.
  2. Build long-term relationships.
  3. Reinvent yourself continually.
  4. Do more … far more … than enough.
  5. Make an all-out, absolute commitment to your clients or customers.
  6. Develop a passion for caring.
  7. Don’t wait on WOW …. WOW is NOW.  Make it happen!
