HR Software to the Small Business Rescue!
Let’s Talk Streamlining a Job Description
HR software helps busy business owners by providing tools that are designed to make lives easier. Some software tools help you become a business writer using the software for a model. The program does the work for you; the technology writes for you and then you go on.
Actually, I’m always amazed at how often job descriptions are kind of played down, but yet these details are intrinsic to many business processes and practices. In addition, job descriptions help identify legal or compliance issues and serve to document work assignments.
Job Descriptions Are Useful to Employers, Employees and Job Applicants
You need a job description if you want to articulate a job need; for instance, when you have a position opening. Most employers find themselves asking job-employee-related questions like:
- What is the need?
- What are the expectations?
- Who do you need sitting in that chair doing that job?
- How do you develop interview questions?
- How do you identify talented and qualified individuals?
When thinking about job descriptions, I’ve found that professionally and legally-researched job descriptions help answer those questions and more. Job descriptions that are clear and accurate also serve to set expectations for your employees. A quality and professional HR software product takes great care in crafting language that is descriptive and not prejudicial.
I have a customer who hands their job description to a new hire on their first day of employment. That same job description was used to write the employment ad.
As the employer, this customer is pleased because a current job description helps narrow the gap for any potential misunderstandings. The employee is excited because this document confirms their original understanding of the job as discussed during the interviewing process.
