Employee Training Affects The Credibility of Your Organization

As a Generation Yer, I am a believer in continuous education. In fact, this is not just an idea, but a way of life for me. I’ve been going to school pretty much my entire life. When regular school was over for the year, I signed myself up for Continuing Education classes so that I could learn something new and not be so bored over the summer. When I wanted to learn more about writing, I looked into a local community writing organization to take a few seminars.

And my belief in education extends into my work life as well. I take advantage of my company’s Educational Assistance Program, I do lots of research when taking on a project that is new to me, and I also attend company-sponsored educational events, such as wellness seminars.

Employee training is another type of education. And training is a priceless way to boost your organization’s credibility. When your employees are well-trained, they are better able to do their jobs.

Recently, I’ve run into some examples of poor employee performance—employees who can’t answer the simplest questions, employees who tell you one thing and then tell you something else the next time you call, employees that just simply have no idea what they’re doing. And this, to me, reflects a lack of employee training or low expectations for how employees should perform.

As a consumer, these examples affect how I think about the companies and if I’ll ever use them or their products/services again.

And looking at it from the opposite side, as a business professional, I realize poor employee training really affects how consumers think about my company and its products/services.

Part of Building a Better Business is starting from the ground up, in order to strengthen an organization. And the bottom of the pyramid for any company is their employees.

Remember—your employees are a direct representation of you and your company. So if you don’t train them properly, it’s a reflection on you, your company, your products/services, the way you do business, etc.

Employee training is an important and valuable way to establish credibility for the long-run and to help your company stand out from the competition.
