DC Allows Benefits to Surviving Domestic Partners (Workers' Compensation)
The District of Columbia has changed its workers’ compensation law to designate domestic partners as survivors thereby allowing domestic partners to enjoy the same benefits as surviving spouses, provided the domestic partner is living with or dependent for support upon the deceased employee at the time of death or living apart for justifiable cause or by reason of desertion (DC Act 17-403 of 2008).
