Missouri minimum wage rate will remain at $7.25

Due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI), the state minimum wage rate will not increase on January 1, 2010, but will remain the same rate of $7.25. The Department is required to adjust Missouri's Minimum wage amount each year based on the CPI. The Department will measure the changes in the CPI on September 30, 2009, and the Missouri minimum wage may be increased effective January 1, 2010, based on this measurement. However, a decrease in the CPI will not cause the state's minimum wage rate to decrease because the rate cannot be lower than the federal minimum wage amount.
