Oregon enacts military family leave law

The state has enacted a law requiring employers to provide leave to certain employees who are spouses of members of military forces that are on active duty during periods of military conflict. The law, which takes effect immediately, makes failure to grant leave or discrimination against a spouse exercising the right to military family leave an unlawful practice. The Bureau of Labor and Industries will enforce the law (H. 2744, L. 2009, enacted June 25, 2009).
