Sample personal business at work policy
The organization requests your cooperation in limiting out-going or in-coming personal telephone calls to an absolute minimum. In-coming/out-going personal calls on company telephones are not permitted except in cases of emergency. There are telephones conveniently located in each break room for your use during lunch and rest periods. Collect calls will not be accepted except from authorized personnel as designated by the Business Office.
Except in cases of emergency, employees are not permitted to have personal outside visitors during working hours.
Interoffice communications (including e-mail) should not be used for social conversations with other employees.
Under no circumstances should company equipment (including duplicating and fax machines) be used for personal reasons without express permission. However, if you wish to use our equipment for projects in support of nonprofit community agencies and activities, you are encouraged to do so after normal business hours and with the prior approval of you supervisor. You will not be paid for the time dedicated to these activities.
To avoid the possibility of personal mail being lost or misdirected, and to insure privacy, employees are asked not to have their personal mail addressed to them at the organization.
