Are Most Employers Providing Elder-Care Assistance?

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) 2003 Elder Care Survey showed that only 25 percent of organizations offer elder care benefits. According to an earlier survey, 47 percent of employers offered elder care assistance. However, 40 percent of those employers offered resource and referral services and 32 percent offered dependent care spending accounts. Other approaches, such as long-term care insurance (17 percent) and counseling (4 percent) were not as widespread.
