How can you ensure that your HR employees are getting the job done?
Creating a culture of execution in your HR department begins with the knowledge that developing plans and strategic initiatives is just the start. It also requires the following:
Recognize that execution starts with a plan-a solid plan can improve effeciency;
Ensure plans are aligned and coordinated across the HR department;
Provide clarity-it's difficult to get things done when people don't understand their role, responsibilities or what exactly is expected of them;
Establish clear expectations for each member of your department;
Avoid micromanaging your HR employees, but do monitor them;
Encourage employees to openly share bad news or mistakes made;
Balance careful analysis of a problem and decisive action to solve it;
Make decisions as close to the action as possible;
Facilitate informal and spontaneous interaction among HR employees; and
Turn your performance management system into a business tool-this ensures goals are aligned across all levels of your department.
