Alabama, COBRA Law Summaries

Alabama has not enacted a continuation of health care coverage law, but an insurer may not terminate health coverage for a subject of abuse when the person does not qualify for coverage under COBRA. However, an insurer may terminate COBRA coverage once it has been in force for 18 months, as required by federal law. This law does not mandate continuation coverage in addition to what state or federal laws require (Sec. 3, Act 595 (S. 348), L. 2000).
