Kansas, Sexual Orientation Discrimination Law Summaries

The state of Kansas has no law dealing with sexual orientation discrimination in employment, but there is an executive order prohibiting discrimination against state employees on account of sexual orientation or gender identity (Executive Order 07-24, August 31, 2007). Local jurisdictions may also have laws prohibiting this type of discrimination.

WHAT THE EMPLOYER MUST DO

State entities under the jurisdiction of the governor shall make certain that they have in place a strong program prohibiting discrimination and harassment on account of sexual orientation and gender identity. This program will include training, and a prompt and confidential method for expressing complaints (Executive Order 07-24, August 31, 2007).
