South Carolina, Meal and Rest Periods Law Summaries

South Carolina does not have a law requiring meal periods or rest periods for employees, but the state does have a law protecting the rights of nursing mothers (Code of Laws of South Carolina, Title 20, Ch. 7, Art. 3, Subart. 1).

WHAT THE EMPLOYER MUST DO

Nursing mothers.- A woman may breastfeed her child in any location where the mother and child are authorized to be (Sec. 20-7-97, as added by H. 4347, L. 2005, ratified April 27, 2006, and approved May 2, 2006).
