If your organization has experienced a layoff---you may be left with a group of employees who miss the "good old days" and are afraid of the future--afraid that their position may be eliminated; afraid their workload will increase; afraid they will lose benefits; and afraid they will be lonely since they have lost friends in the layoff.
Employee layoffs are painful for everyone, including those employees left behind—the ‘survivors.’ Managers and supervisors can take positive steps to help advance employee morale during down economic times.
Employers will want to keep their surviving employees engaged and productive, if they want to successfully recover from these devastating downsizing events.
After a layoff, it is vitally important that management interact with employees on a human-to-human level.
Show employees that their efforts and performance are acknowledged and appreciated.
