Georgia highway work zone safety alliance created

There is a new alliance between OSHA and the Georgia Department of Transportation and other organizations to promote worker safety during highway and road construction projects. "The primary goal of this alliance is to prevent highway construction worker fatalities and serious injuries," said Andre Richards, OSHA's Atlanta-West area director." This agreement strengthens our outreach efforts by enhancing employer, employee and public awareness of roadway and construction work zone safety hazards."

OSHA health and safety alliances are part of U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao's ongoing effort to improve health and safety for workers through cooperative partnerships. OSHA's role is to assure the safety and health of America's working men and women by setting and enforcing standards; providing training, outreach and education; establishing partnerships; and encouraging continual process improvement in workplace safety and health.
